About Spring Lake

Spring Lake is a borough on the Monmouth County shore with 2,789 residents as of the 2020 census. It grew as a Gilded Age resort for families from New York and Philadelphia, and that history still shows in its older homes. Two of them, the Martin Maloney Cottage and the Audenried Cottage, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The town takes its name from its spring-fed lake, which sits inside Divine Park a short walk from the beach. Along the ocean is a non-commercial boardwalk that runs beside the beach. Wreck Pond, a 28-acre tidal pond, lies along the southern edge of town.
